A warm welcome at Swingate Primary School in Lordwood

Along with Ward Councillor David Wildey, I visited Swingate Primary School this morning at the written invitation of Year 6 pupils.

The pupils had written to me expressing their dismay at the negative press that had followed our Medway Key Stage 2 results a few weeks ago.

Warmly greeted by Head Teacher Miss Boon and Assistant Head Teacher Mrs Clarke we discussed various educational matters before having a tour of the school, meeting both staff and pupils.

Finally we were treated to three different classrooms where  Year 6 gave presentations on the fantastic school that they were proud to be involved with, culminating in a question and answer session.

Both David and I were subjected to a wide variety of excellent probing questions from the pupils covering the school, council, education, Lordswood and of course community and charity work.

We had a fantastic visit and a big thank you must go to the pupils and staff who made our visit so warm and welcoming.

I look forward to returning in the future.
