Medway Matters

The people who have made a difference to Medway’s rich culture will be honoured at an awards ceremony.

Nominations are now open for Medway Council’s prestigious Culture, Design and Tourism Awards 2015 for any individual or groups who have had outstanding success or contributed to the area’s cultural vitality.

The council aims to recognise and raise the profile of businesses, projects, people and organisations contributing to the cultural offer in Medway.

At the last awards in 2012, winners included Strood Academy, Rochester Cathedral, Icon Theatre and well-known local artist Billy Childish.

Cllr Howard Doe, Medway Council’s Deputy Leader and portfolio holder for Community Services, said: “These awards will celebrate a wide variety of achievements that have been made when contributing to Medway as a place.

“Anyone living or working in Medway or who has made a significant contribution can be nominated and I would urge people to take part and help us celebrate this area’s rich culture, heritage and architecture.”

Individuals or groups, including not-for-profit organisations, businesses and schools  can be nominated and you can nominate yourself or nominate others but the project should have taken place or been completed between December 2012 and September 2015.

Closing date for nominations is Friday, 28 August.
