Delphi host an International Conference and Exhibition at their Factory in Rainham Central

I had the pleasure of being invited to attend a fantastic International Conference at the Delphi Plant at Hoath Way Rainham Central today. Although I had to leave during the morning to attend meetings at Gun Wharf, I was able to take the opportunity of touring the new Laboratories and to meet some of the staff.

The thing that really impressed me was the pride with which staff members obviously had in both their product and their organisation.

I am photographed above with Councillor Rodney Chambers OBE and Councillor David Brake, both of whom started their careers with Delphi’s predecessor CAV Lucas. Indeed my Father was a Foreman Inspector there and was one of the first to move to the current site when it first opened.

Councillor Chambers gave the opening address to welcome the International visitors to Medway.

Delphi have some 12 Apprentices and employ some 400 people, many of them local so it makes a significant contribution to Medway. They also are closely involved with the new University Technical College (UTC) and I am photographed below withDavid and the Delphi Technical Centre Manager Paul Charman, who is also the Chair of Governors at the new UTC.
