A fantastic training day with Teaching Professionals at Walderslade Girls’ School with the Walderslade consortium.

Inset1

I had a fantastic time with some 320 of our teaching professionals who make up the The Walderslade Consortium of Schools today at their training day at Walderslade Girls’ School.

The training day was the brainchild of Head Teachers Andy Reese from Greenacre Academy and Louise McGowan of Walderslade Girls’ School.

I had the opportunity of sitting in on the workshops that were delivered by inspirational teachers from around Medway, covering diverse subjects from Lesson Planning , classroom activity and most importantly, improving outcomes for our Medway young people.

I am pictured below where teachers were getting to grips with the magic of Photoshop.

I was given the honour of closing the day and took the opportunity of thanking all of our fantastic teaching professionals, staff and governors for the tremendous job that they are doing in giving each of our Medway young people the very best start in life.

I also assured them that their efforts were resulting in Early Years and Foundation improvement, year on year improvement in Key Stage 2 and of course our superb GCSE and A Level results which have put us above Kent and neighbouring authorities and above the national average.

My congratulations to Andy and Louise for this pioneering initiative, the buzz of excitement and positive ethos was palpable in all of the sessions that I attended. This initiative is a great opportunity for teachers from both Primary and Secondary sectors to exchange ideas, best practice and take strength from being part of a fantastic Team Medway.

I would urge all of our other consortiums to consider similar training days next term.

May I take this opportunity of wishing all of our Medway Teaching Professionals, Staff, Governors and Pupils a happy well earned half term break.
