School Admissions in Medway

Medway Council Cabinet ratified the outcome of the consultation process for the Councils School Admission Arrangements yesterday. Significantly, measures have been taken to improve accessibility to schools for families with special access needs in our Community and Voluntary Controlled schools.

Medway Council is strongly of the view that families which need assistance due to medical, health and access reasons receive special consideration. For the first time however, a family can be considered as to whether a parent or carer as well as the child in question has difficulty with access.

Mike O’Brien Portfolio Holder for Children’s Services said “we have children across Medway who are working tirelessly to support parents with disabilities. We want to support these unsung heroes and this change is designed to do just that.
