It was with extreme pleasure that I had the opportunity of launching the Kent and Medway Joint Looked After Children Protocol at Medway Police Station recently.

The purpose of the protocol is to keep our Kent and Medway Looked After Children out of the judicial system wherever possible and for this we needed the full cooperation of Medway Police.

Kent and Medway Police have been fully supportive from the start and it was great to be joined not only by Medway Supt Tom Richards (below)

But also by the Kent Police and Crime Commissioner Ann Barnes

The meeting was also addressed by the Chief Executive of Medway Council Neil Davies and the Director of Children and Adults Barbara Peacock.

Congratulations to the Youth Offending Team Service Manager Keith Gulvin who has driven this project forward and to Kent and Medway Police for their fantastic support.

We are also extremely grateful to our cross party Corporate Parenting Board who have been supportive of this initiative and it was great to see them in attendance on the evening.

Also present was our Kent Youth Police and Crime Commissioner Kerry Boyd.
