The Kent Youth and Crime Commissioner visits the Medway Youth Parliament and the Children in Care Council’s Christmas Party

A great day today when the Kent Youth and Crime Commissioner Kerry Boyd visited Medway Youth Parliament offices at Gun Wharf today.

Members asked her questions about her role and discussed various concerns and challenges with her.

We are pictured above with some members of the Medway Youth Parliament and my colleague Councillor Peter Hicks Portfolio Holder for Community Safety.

Instead of leaving, Kerry then joined me at the Corporate Parenting Board and Children in Care Council Christmas meeting and stayed all evening participating in the games and of course meeting and talking with members of the Children in Care Council.

Other Board members who attended were Councillors David Royle, David Wildey, Diana Smith, Pat Cooper and Dorte Gilry.

Also present were Council Officers and the Young Lives Foundation.

Helen Jones our Assistant Director Commissioning and Councillor Adam Price then joined one of the young people to help make a model of the Eiffel Tower out of marshmallow and pasta!  The thought was there but surprisingly we didn’t win!
