Remembrance Day at St Margaret’s Church in Rainham

Photographs by courtesy of my good friend Mike Ward.

I thought I would share some photographs with you to give you a flavour of the wonderfully moving Remembrance Day Service led by the Reverend Judy Henning with the Reverend Melanie Simms this morning in Rainham.

Reverend Judy gave an excellent and moving sermon well supported by the Choir who were in top form and delivered a wonderful anthem.

The Church was packed to capacity and I was particularly proud of our Medway Young People from local Scout, Guide, Brownie and Cub packs, Schools and individuals who were there to show their support for Remembrance Day.

We were blessed with the weather, with a few spots of rain only starting on completion of the service.

Representatives of the various Political Groups , The Royal British Legion, Medway Police and lots of individuals laid wreaths.(Pictured below) Councillor  David Royle represented Medway Council and Councillor Howard Doe represented the Member of Parliament Rehman Chishti who attended the Remembrance Service in Gillingham. Our Ward colleague the Mayor Councillor Barry Kemp attended the Remembrance Service at Rochester Cathedral.

I was privileged to read the Kohima Epitaph.

When you go home, tell them of us, and say, for your tomorrow we gave our today.

As always the service was fantastically supported by our local residentsRD5
