Medway Youth Parliament tackles Domestic Abuse and Human Trafficking at it’s Annual Conference

A successful Medway Youth Parliament Conference at the Corn Exchange in Rochester today where pupils from schools across Medway discussed Domestic Abuse and Sexual and Human Trafficking.

The Medway Youth Parliament is never afraid to tackle important issues at it’s conferences and today was no exception.

A Panel consisting of  Youth Services, the Soroptomists, Medway Council’s Domestic Abuse Officer, Cllr David Royle and Cllr Vince Maple fielded tough questions from the audience and I had the privilege of drawing the proceedings to a close with my final speech.

Although there is a lot of work being carried out by Medway Council, Medway Police and other partner agencies, I look forward to receiving the feedback from the conference in due course.

Should you be affected by Domestic Abuse or know someone that is then you might find this Kent and Medway Domestic Abuse website useful.

I reminded the young people present that although they had been discussing emotive and upsetting topics , Medway was a safe place in which to live, work, study and play.

My congratulations to the Chairman James Wren the Vice Chair Valeriia Reznik ,all members of the Medway Youth Parliament and Officers for a successful day.
