A Humbling, Inspirational and Proud night at the Medway Try Angle Awards

I had the privilege of attending the annual Medway Try Angle Awards on Tuesday; Organised once again by the Medway Youth Parliament and sponsored by Kent Fire and Rescue, Kent and Medway Police, E.On Grain, Medway Rotary, Medway Soroptomists, Chatham Maritime Trust, Rochester Rotary, Medway Youth Parliament and Medway Council.

Interspersed with excellent musical interludes we were humbled by the stories of the Medway Young People who had been nominated. This year a record 313 young people.

Being the Lead Member for Children’s Services is a fantastic privilege, none more so than being present  at this annual event with over 300 nominees.

The Chair and Vice Chair of the Medway Youth Parliament hosted the event and let nothing distract them as they guided us all through the evening.

Members of the Youth Parliament worked back stage and at front of house to ensure that the evening went off so well.

My congratulations to every single member of the Medway Youth Parliament, the officers who work very much in the back ground to assist and of course in particular to all of the young people who were nominated.

Obviously some one had to win each category but as the Mayor of  Medway Councillor Barry Kemp said in his address , you are all winners.

They certainly were , their courage and perserverance and focus on their studies and charitable work is a credit to them and their families.

Well done to all of you, Medway is Proud of you.
