Our Medway Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards presented at St James’s Palace

I had the privilege of attending the Gold Duke of Edinburgh Awards Presentation at St James’s Palace yesterday when I accompanied 24 of our Medway Young People who had successfully completed their Gold Awards.

What I hadn’t realised was that I was going to be presented to the Earl of Wessex which was an honour that I shared with our Medway Young People . He made the young people feel completely at ease as he talked and joked with them.

Because of the size of the Medway contingent, the largest there, we were really privileged to have the Gold Awards presented in the actual Throne Room.

Last year Medway had a tremendously successful number of young people completing their Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards and I was particularly proud of our young people who included  6 young people from Abbey Court School who achieved their Golds for the first time this year.

The icing on the cake was also to have the opportunity of meeting our very own local Medway Gold Medal winner Charlotte Evans with whom I am pictured above; Charlotte even allowed me to wear her Gold Medal!

After the presentation Charlotte gave an inspiring and motivational address which I know was greatly appreciated by all present.

A big THANK YOU and CONGRATULATIONS to all of our amazing Medway Duke of Edinburgh officers and volunteers, without whom none of this would be possible.

What a fantastic day!
