Byron Primary School Governors invite me to their School

Last night I was pleased to take up the invitation extended to me and attend the governors meeting for Byron Primary school.

Byron has recently received an inadequate OFSTED rating and has been given a list of areas to improve on, many of which have begun already.

Naturally all the staff and governors are disappointed to have received such a judgement but what is clear to all is their determination to improve.

As the Lead Member for Children’s Services in Medway I have visited all our schools and met with a large number of governors and the Byron’s governors’ determination to do better is right up there with the best.

The meeting contained a number of positive discussions and a number of new ideas and proposals were considered and agreed.

Byron is a school that has only one way to go and that is up. I am confident that in the weeks and months to come all involved with the school will be doing their utmost to ensure the pupils receive a good education.
